I have a confession to make. I am totally obsessed with velvet. Yes, velvet is back. It has left the nightmares of my 90s childhood (where my mom would dress my sister and I in matching green et red christmas velvet dresses) and is now back to haunt me again. Only this time, I am DREAMING of velvet.

I like it on couches, I like it on shoes and most of all, I like it on clothes. Because velvet is very much like leopard print (NEVER wear more than one velvet/leopard print piece at once), this means I have to make a choice. For me the choice is clear; Velvet dress FTW!

I think it all started with this Old Hollywood style black velvet dress, this little casual plum velvet dress and an awesome vintage black velvet skirt we  put up for sale in the boutique. Brought back the memories… ahh! Sweet 90s!

This is the kind of peter pan dress my mother made me wear as a kid. Might be cool now, but I won’t ever wear again – due to trauma. (Just kidding mom!)

This year I’m gonna spend Valentine’s day in a little chalet, with family, probably playing board games near the fireplace (ahhhh God, I can’t wait!), but otherwise, I would definitely be planning on wearing red velvet out in a nice restaurant. Velvet is such a luscious fabric!

Look at this beautiful one from NastyGal, to be paired with a black bowler hat to complete the look with a little bit of edge.

Well, I guess I don’t necessarily have to resign myself… I just need to find the perfect little casual velvet dress and pair it with boots and a denim vest. What do you think?
